For Mentors

Share your expertise. Shape the next generation of engineers.

WCRJ mentors are professionals from engineering, manufacturing, software development, business, and education who volunteer their time during the build season and competition events. Mentors guide, teach, and inspire β€” but they don't build the robot for the students. You'll work alongside young people who will surprise you every season.

What Mentors Do

  • Teach technical skills in your area of expertise
  • Guide students through the engineering design process
  • Help with safety, tool use, and best practices
  • Attend competitions as chaperones & support
  • Connect students with industry knowledge & networks
  • Advise on business, outreach, and team operations
Time Commitment ~12 hrs/week during competition season (Jan–Apr); 1 evening/week off-season
Background Check Required (covered by team / FIRST)

Ready to mentor? Reach out to us at frc5492@gmail.com β€” we'd love to talk about how your skills can make an impact.
